Waiters

You can choose if you want to use waiters and if you do, if a waiter can simply be selected or if the waiter needs to enter his password or swipe/scan his card.

You can also choose if you want a waiter to complete an order (finish the sale). This option could be useful if you want waiters to enter their own orders, but you only want the cashier to work with the actual cash in the drawer.

To choose these options, go to Manager > Setup > Restaurant | Bar Configuration.



To create a waiter, add the waiter as a normal user in SERRAM (Manager > Main Setup > Users).

The Waiter List will appear after a table was selected (if you chose to use waiters).

You will be able to run reports for waiters that will also include how much tips each waiter received.

Once a waiter was allocated to a specific table, the waiter will stay allocated to that table until the sale has been completed. To change a waiter, select the table, click on 'Sale Options' in the menu and then on 'Change Waiter'.

Allowing waiters to capture their own orders but not complete a sale

If you don't want waiters to complete a sale (work with the cash in the drawer), simply check 'Only the Cashier can complete a sale' in the Restaurant Configuration screen.



The waiter will then be able to add items and notes to the sale, but when he wants to complete the sale (accept payment), the cashier will need to enter his/her password.

You can also choose not to automatically allocated cash drawers to users. That will mean a waiter will not be able to log in as a cashier.



In Manager > Setup > System Configuration go to the Cash Drawer tab and uncheck 'Automatically open a drawer'.

For added security and to speed things up you can use a card system instead of passwords.
